Revolut customers hit by phishing led data theft

17 September 2026 · Source: pluang.com

Hackers say they stole data from 680 Revolut customers and are demanding $3 million in Monero. The stolen information is reported to include IDs, bank account details, and cryptocurrency transaction records, with customers in Switzerland, France, and other European countries among those affected. Revolut says it blocked the phishing account and notified customers and authorities, while regulators in the UK and Italy are investigating. This kind of attack shows how a convincing fake email can lead to major data loss and extortion. Businesses need to spot impersonation attempts early, especially when messages appear to come from trusted public bodies or internal teams. Sender Registry helps companies assess suspicious senders, reduce the chance of phishing reaching staff, and catch impersonation before it turns into fraud or a breach.
