Police warn of booking platform phishing scams

9 October 2026 · Source: straitstimes.com

Police in Singapore have warned about phishing scams that impersonate travel booking platforms and hotels. The messages are sent through WhatsApp or email and may include real booking details such as travel dates and destinations. Victims are urged to click a link and enter card information, and at least 148 cases have been reported since January, with losses of at least $185,000. This matters to businesses because scammers can use trusted brands and real reservation data to make fake payment requests look legitimate. A service like Sender Registry helps companies spot impersonation attempts, verify suspicious messages, and reduce the risk of customers or staff being tricked into sharing payment details or making unauthorised transfers.

How Sender Registry helps

Impersonation Radar watches certificate logs for lookalike domains the moment they are registered, so a fake is caught before it is ever used against you.
