Fake hotel listings trick Booking.com customers

25 September 2026 · Source: bbc.com

A family from Loughborough booked what looked like a London apartment through Booking.com, then found the address was actually a Wetherspoon pub near Tower Bridge. The case was linked to a phishing attack that also affected other listings, including one near Big Ben, and some travellers said they were left without accommodation after trusting the false pages. For businesses, this shows how criminals can hijack trusted booking accounts and use them to steal money or personal details. Sender Registry helps companies spot suspicious sender behaviour, flag impersonation attempts, and catch fake messages or links before staff or customers are misled.

How Sender Registry helps

Impersonation Radar watches certificate logs for lookalike domains the moment they are registered, so a fake is caught before it is ever used against you.
