Business email fraud drives most US cyber losses

23 September 2026 · Source: insurancebusinessmag.com

A new analysis based on FBI data says business email compromise caused more than $3 billion in reported losses in 2025, far more than ransomware, data breaches, or intellectual property theft. The report also says reported corporate cybercrime incidents rose sharply last year, reaching the highest level in six years. This matters because email based fraud often targets payment changes and wire transfers, which can hit any business, especially smaller firms. Sender Registry helps companies spot suspicious senders, impersonation attempts, and risky messages before money is moved or sensitive requests are approved.
