Bulk phishing emails abused Microsoft authentication systems

12 October 2026 · Source: citizen.co.za

Security researchers found a phishing campaign that used parts of spear phishing in large scale email attacks. The activity involved more than 31,000 scam emails over a seven week period and relied on abuse of Microsoft authentication related systems. This matters because attacks that look more targeted can slip past normal checks and reach employees who handle payments, credentials, or sensitive data. Sender Registry helps businesses spot suspicious senders and patterns earlier, so teams can block impersonation and phishing attempts before they cause fraud or account compromise.
